
Hi there! I'm Michael, a data scientist and independent music artist.
In my full-time data career, I've worked behind the scenes at DSPs and music tech startups, building tools for artists and producers to market their music and unlock their expression and creativity.
In my full-time music passion, I’ve amassed over 10 millions streams, headlined shows in NYC and SF, landed numerous editorial placements on Spotify / Apple Music, and partnered with brands like Arc’teryx and Visa for marketing activations.
In conjunction with applying a data-driven approach to growing my own music, I developed my insights expertise by leading 0-to-1 data strategies for product and growth initiatives in roles across the music industry including:
- Founding data & insights member of the Spotify org that launched Canvas, Countdown Pages, Music Videos, Clips, and Your Artist Messages (a Spotify Wrapped experience)
- First product data scientist at Splice where I supported all data needs for the flagship subscription product, including the Sounds sample marketplace, AI-driven feature Create, and merchandising recommendations
- First data scientist at TIDAL where I led a team of 7 in modernizing data processes and instituting best practices on top of spearheading company-wide data intiatives
- First growth data scientist at Yousician, where I optimized millions of ad spend
- Repeat contributor at Water & Music, where I authored and led data analysis for multiple published reports, including "The State of Data in the Music Industry (2024)”
